Hello! My name is Caio, and I am a tenured research engineer at the Institut Curie (INSERM) in Paris. Here, I have been working with Biophysical Imaging (i.e., imaging biophysical properties of cells) since 2024.
This is my homepage, where I share my updates, research activities, and science communication content. You will also find a section dedicated to scientific networking, featuring photos of memorable moments with people I have met along my career path — collaborators, mentors, and colleagues. Who knows? We might even have some connections in common (the scientific world is pretty small, isn’t it?).
My current research is to develop novel state-of-the-art quantitative imaging methods while I attempt to provide biologists novel imaging solutions leveraged by AI to study cancer cells and processes in deeper detail. To perform this role, I am a member of two research teams at the Chemical Biology of Cancer (CBC) unit at the Institut Curie: (i) the Endocytic Trafficking and Intracellular Delivery team, focused on cell biology of cancer; (ii) the SAIRPICO team, focused on computational biology and artificial intelligence (bioimage analysis using AI).

Beyond science, I also enjoy photography, and this site includes a gallery with my perspective of the places I’ve worked and traveled to. Besides, I love art and the process of doing art. With time, I have plans to include in this website the work from some artists I know in person. Disconnecting from science is important to get some creative inspiration, to think a little bit out of the box. I believe that art is science of feeling, and science is the art of understanding. Maybe the easiest way to think out of the box is just to stay a little bit out of it, just for a while. What do you think? Where do you get your inspiration?
